The most expensive New Year's Eve destinations in California
December 28, 2016South Lake Tahoe has just been deemed the most expensive California destination in which to ring in the New Year. A recent survey from LosAngelesHotels.org is behind this determination.
In compiling the rankings, the survey pitted 20 popular destinations in the Golden State against each other. The cost of lodging on December 31, 2016 served as the basis of comparison. The rate for the cheapest available double room (minimum: 3-star hotel) was specifically chosen for comparative purposes.
Coming in at a $345 price tag for its most affordable room, South Lake Tahoe easily leads the rankings. Indeed, it outprices its nearest competitor by almost $100 this New Year’s Eve. Diane Muller, spokesperson for LosAngelesHotels.org, points out that the Sierra Nevada destination is California’s only one to be virtually sold out this New Year’s Eve. Revelers who balk at the idea of paying that much can still secure a more affordable room if they are willing to commit to a three-night stay.
The following table compares 20 destinations in California for New Year's Eve 2016. The rates shown alongside each city reflect the price for the cheapest available double room on December 31, 2016. Please note that only centrally located hotels rated at least 3 stars have been considered by the survey.
